Player Bio

Hello, my name is Carly Ruiz. I am currently a senior at St. Lucy’s Priory High School in Glendora, CA. I’m an outfielder and a slapper. Last June, I completed my junior year at St. Lucy’s High School on the honor roll with a 3.5 GPA.

My journey started in Little League playing T-ball at 4 years old and continued until 9 years old when I transitioned to softball. I played Rec softball for one year, and moved to travel ball at 10 years old. One of my fondest memories is winning the Triple Crown Colorado Sparkler Tournament in 12U when I played with American Pastime Velasquez. This is my second year playing as a Firecracker, and I’m honored to be part of the Firecrackers Rico team.

Accolades:

  • St. Lucy’s Track and Field: Varsity Best Newcomer Award
  • St. Lucy’s Track and Field: Varsity Baseline League Finalist
  • St. Lucy’s Track and Field: Varsity San Gabriel Champion
  • St. Lucy’s Track and Field: Varsity MVP award

In addition to my love for softball, I also have a passion for track and field. During my freshman year at St. Lucy’s, I joined the track and field team instead of playing softball for my school. Participating in track and field allowed me the time to focus on my speed and agility which ultimately benefited me on the softball field. I participated on the varsity team, lettering in 7 events which includes: 100m (12.60s), 200m (26.75s), 400m (62.05s), Long Jump (16’3”), Triple Jump (33’2”), 4X100m, and 4X400m.

When I’m not on the field, I enjoy giving back to the community. I donate my time to help the St. Lucy’s “Let It Be” Club which collects clothing donations, and coordinates and delivers home cooked meals to local families with children who have cancer. I also participate in the art club. In the art club I have time to crochet and embroider, which I love and have been doing for  multiple years.
